We, at Stanley Kelleher Real Estate, are passionate about helping other people - That’s one of the things that drew us to the Real Estate industry in the first place and one of the main reasons we love what we do today. Whether you are just starting to consider a real estate career, are newly licensed, or have had your real estate license for some time, we are happy to help in any way that we can.

How to Earn your Real Estate License

Because this process varies from state to state, our answer here may be somewhat vague or contain information specific to the process in North Carolina. That being said, don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, regardless of the state you are in, & we are happy to help point you in the right direction.

Pre-Licensing - In general, you will need to register for some type of real estate course as a first step in obtaining your license. Here in North Carolina this is the Real Estate Brokers Pre-Licensing course. Currently in NC you can choose to take this course live in person, live online/virtual, or self paced online. We would encourage you to consider how you best learn & retain information when choosing which route to take for the Pre-Licensing course.

Pass the State & National Exam - Once you have successfully completed the Pre-Licensing course, you will need to pass an exam that is comprised of both a state and national section. In NC you will need to submit an application to the North Carolina Real Estate Commission after completing the Pre-Licensing course, and they will let you know when you are able to register for the exam. Once you have passed both the state and national portions of the exam, the Real Estate Commission will review your application in its entirety and if approved they will issue your Real Estate Broker’s License.

Join a Firm & Complete Post-Licensing - Once you have obtained your Real Estate Broker’s License you will need to find a firm to join before you can begin working with clients. In NC, you will be considered a Provisional Broker until you complete three required Post-Licensing courses. The firm that you choose to join should be able to assist with any questions you may have about Post-Licensing or next steps, and should provide training so that as a newly licensed agent you are confident and prepared to work with buyer and seller clients in your area.

Why We Love Working with Keller Williams

We could go on and on here, so we will try to keep this fairly simple. Here are just three reasons we choose to be affiliated with Keller Williams & why we love where we work:

Training & Collaboration - We believe, from our experience, that the training offered at Keller Williams offices is some of the absolute best in the real estate industry. Of course this includes training for newly licensed agents, and it includes training & collaboration among seasoned industry professionals. Your business grows to the extent that you do, and training in the real estate industry never ends. That’s why we believe it is so important to affiliate with a firm that believes in working together to help each other grow together by sharing ideas, helping each other through challenges, & supporting each other through industry needs and beyond. We have training for new agents & for agents at every level of production. We teach how to succeed as an individual agent, how to build teams in real estate, how to build wealth, & so much more. Our firm has a committee dedicated to providing the training classes that agents in our office request. And as one of the largest real estate franchises in the world we always have someone for you to learn from.

Growth & Opportunities - The Real Estate industry provides many different opportunities for your long-term career. Maybe you want to join a team and work as a buyer’s agent, or maybe you want to start as an individual agent who starts their own team. Perhaps you find that you would prefer to work on the administrative side supporting a real estate team or office. Maybe you learn that you would prefer to coach, train, & support agents and teams, whether new or experienced. Maybe you want to work in a leadership role with a real estate company or travel and train agents in offices around the country. Whatever path you choose, we at Keller Williams are here to support you & provide the training necessary to accomplish the big goals you have set.

Networking & Communities - Keller Williams has offices around the world with a global network of more than 180,000 agents (last we checked). This expansive network of agents has allowed us vast opportunities to meet other agents and expand our agent referral network. As of 2024, about 40% of our closed business here at Stanley Kelleher Real Estate has come from agent referrals (agents in other areas who have sent us clients to help here in NC). Many of these agents have become our friends and through the many groups & networking events that KW provides we are able to stay in touch, help each other as needed, & learn and grow together.
